The inaugural Ryder Cup between neighbours Ballinrobe and ourselves took place in glorious sunshine last Thursday night. There was a shot gun start at 5pm and the format was a 2 ball mixed scramble making it a very sociable occasion..The 2nd leg will be this Thursday in Tuam. Unfortunately at this point Tuam are trailing so hopefully we will score better on home ground.Our officers led the way with president Oliver and vice captain Dolly having the best score on the night followed by our captains Sandra and Larry.
The teams are having mixed results, the mens fourball have proceeded to the next round but the Pierce Purcell lost to Galway Bay. The ladies minor cup team lost on the 21st to Carrick on Shannon, the challenge cup went out to Ballinrobe but the Junior Foursomes team are through to the next round after beating Ballinrobe.
The Goats played the McElroy Cup in lovely sunshine last Tuesday and they sincerely thank the McElroy family for a fabulous table of prizes.

Members are urged to use the BRS time sheet for the Wednesday open. We are aware that visitors are not travelling for our open day as when they look at the time sheet it is often blank. The BRS timesheet if used properly is a great way for those without regular partners to play and meet new golfers so please .. use it.
Ladies : the committee have decided to start a 9 hole qualifying competition on a trial basis. It will start on Sunday 21st May. There will be time slots allotted on the time sheet for this competition. This is chiefly aimed at beginners and ladies who have haven’t the time or energy to play 18 holes.
There will be a meeting in the clubhouse for all the juniors wanting to play golf on Tuesday May 16th @ 7.30pm. Due to new child protection regulations it is extremely important that parents/guardians attend.
