Our Jimmy Bruen Team were defeated by Hermitage Golf Club 3 matches to 2 in the AIG sponsored Cups and Shields National Finals in Thurles Golf Club on Friday. Tuam got off to a great start with Peter Ryan and Ben Carty winning the first three holes on there way to a 4 and 2 victory. In the second match Michael Mulryan and Jack Davin faced a strong Hermitage pairing. Despite mounting a comeback on the back nine, they were defeated on the sixteenth hole. Shane Quinn and Donal Cunningham recovered from a four hole deficit early on in the third match to be level playing the fifteenth. They were eventually defeated on the 17th . David Burke and Rory Donnellan were always in control of the final match racing to the turn 5 up and winning on 17. It was the fourth match involving Seamus Kelly and Thomas Monaghan that proved pivotal. Having played some excellent golf they reached the 16th hole one up. However, a Hermitage birdie on the 16th and an excellent up and down par on 17 left the Tuam pair one down playing the last where they were unable to force the match into tie holes.
There was no winner of our lotto last week. Numbers drawn were 4, 9, 12, 26. Congratulations to Peter Fahy, Siobhan Joyce and Bernie O Brien who were our lucky dip winners. This weeks lotto is a massive 18,900 euro. If you are not in ……….!!!!
Saturday Club
The Saturday Club resumes this coming Saturday and will continue each weekend until April when there will be the traditional away outing. This year’s Captain is PJ Murphy and it will be much the same format as previous years with the Christmas ‘bottles outing’ being one of the highlights. It has become one of the most successful events within the club and adds to the social element in the bar.
