Mens results: 5/2/24
Once again there was a large turnout for the weekend competition and it was extremely close with a breakdown needed to separate the top three. Winner is Kevin Scully (23), second is Paddy Mythen (22), and third is Vincent Ryder (23). All three players had 35 points. Fourth is Tommy Fleming on 34 points. Gross goes to Mark Kerrisk (10) on 23 points, also on a breakdown.
Next weekend will again be over 14 holes with holes 5 to 8 not in play. And, just a reminder, the Captains’ Drive-in will be on Sun March 3rd and is a 9 hole scramble.
Saturday Club
The scoring was certainly hot for the Saturday Club at Tuam Golf Club with more than 30 members playing. Paddy Mythen, playing alongside Saturday Club stalwarts Tom McHugh, Bernard Brady and Seamus Treacy, edged to victory with 35 points for the 14 hole competition.
Result (14 holes): 1st Paddy Mythen (22) 35pts; 2nd Vincent Ryder (23) 35pts; 3rd Gerry Murphy (35) 34pts. Bottles: Martin Connor, Declan Tierney, Tom Coen.
It’s still two months away but the timesheet for the Saturday Club away outing to Ballinrobe Golf Club on April 13 is filling up. Contact Declan Tierney on 087-8182710 for inclusion.
Goats Golf
Almost 30 retired members of Tuam Golf Club competed in the most recent competition with Ollie Martyn winning on the breakdown.
Result (10 holes): 1st Oliver Martyn (28) 26pts; 2nd Michael O’Connell (22) 26pts; 3rd Jarlath Kelly (29) 24pts; 4th Rae Gilmore (34) 24pts. There were no 2s at the difficult 11th hole which wasn’t surprising. The sponsor was PJ Murphy.
Golf Lotto
There was no winner of the lotto jackpot worth €6,600 at Tuam Golf Club. Numbers drawn were 1, 4, 11, 12. Congratulations to The Goats (retired members golf society) who were our match 3 winners.
